Ram Aviation
About Ram Aviation
Ram Aviation has been providing world-class trophy Alaska Caribou hunting and Moose hunting out of Kotzebue, Alaska for over 25 years. Transporting unguided caribou and moose hunters into the wild Alaska landscape is nothing new for us. Specializing in unguided caribou and moose drop off hunts, Ram Aviation has the experience and local knowledge to put you in the optimum position to "get" that big bull you're after.
The feeling when you first touch down on a gravel river bar in the middle of the arctic wilderness is like none you'll ever have again...
Our planes
At Ram Aviation we pride ourselves in knowing where to put you for your best hunting opportunities.
Our goal is to drop you where the game is. Thats why we've chosen the particular planes we fly.
If you've flown into the bush on a hunting trip before, you know the size of the plane you'll be riding in.
If not, think sports car or compact car.
Where you'll hunt
We drop off hunters in GMU 23 and 26. Click here for an Alaska Fish and Game map.
Ram Aviation is the expert on Noatak National Preserve.
The area we use in Noatak National Preserve (click for map) is 22,500 square miles, roughly the size of West Virginia.
Guided vs. Unguided Hunting Trips
When you come to Alaska to hunt, you need to decide if you want a "Guided" or an "Unguided" hunt. Unguided hunts are also known as "Drop Off" hunts - or as we call them, "Do-It-Yourself" hunts. If you're an experienced hunter who hunts the lower 48's for Elk or Deer ...
Camp Rental List
Over 20 years we've, developed the Camp Rental into a bit of a science.
We've honed our shopping and shipping to a point where we think we can offer you the best prices anywhere on this package.
A printable version is available here- it's also the first one changed if we have any changes.
What to bring - a personal gear list
If you're looking at our Camp Package, you'll realize it's not everything you'll need. It was designed to take care of the food and gear that is too expensive to ship.
Here's our list of personal gear we suggest you bring along. Obviously, as an experienced hunter, you have a list of things you like to carry, but we've been taking people out for 25+ years and there may be an item or two you wouldn't think about if you haven't been here in Alaska before.
Contracts, Supply Lists and other downloads
Here's where you get the actual contracts and other downloadables that you'll need to get started on your Alaska Hunting adventure.
Practice "leave no trace" camping
The region you'll be hunting in has public lands under federal and state management which provide opportunities for anyone to hunt, camp, fish and recreate. But you are still expected to do so legally and respectfully. You are neither the first nor the last hunter to come to northwest Alaska for a remote wilderness hunt. While there are established camps used year after year by local families, all temporary camps should be left as if no one had ever been there before - even if it means cleaning up someone else's mess.
Leave a clean camp - burn what you can, bag the rest
- Remove all garbage.
- Burn toilet paper.
- Don't leave 'extra' plastic tarps in the field. They are shredded by animals and wind, and their residue clings to bushes for years.
- Don't collect old antlers at your camp and then leave the sawed-up residue behind.
- Dismantle fire rings, field tables and all site modifications.
Our Fish and Game officers keep pretty close tabs on who is where and if you leave a mess behind, you will be held responsible.
