Your Alaska unguided caribou hunt begins when you touch down in Kotzebue after your flight from Anchorage. Before nightfall, you'll have your camp set up in one of the most remote areas of the world: the arctic tundra.

We begin our drop off caribou hunt season the last few days of August and run through the end of September.  With these hunt dates the caribou have already begun (or finished) shedding their velvet, their antlers are hard and the migration is working its way through our utilized drop zones.  As a bonus, the bugs that Alaska is "known" for are all but non-existent since the season is cooler than the summer months - makes your unguided caribou or moose hunt that much better!

In the fall, the Western Arctic Caribou Herd will have split up into smaller herds moving to their wintering areas. Earlier in the spring the herd would have been as many as 450,000 strong, now they travel in groups that number in the hundreds. Our job, as your transporter, is to keep track of the herds and to put you in the best place to find them.

The grizzly bear is the same species of bear as the brown bear, but the name grizzly is taken from it's "grizzled" fur - gray hairs mixed into the brown. They've also been called "silvertip bears."

An adult male Alaska grizzly bear can get up to 1500 pounds and stand 8-10 feet tall.
